Guarnaschelli was born to Maria Guarnaschelli and John Guarnaschelli. Guarnaschelli was a graduate of Barnard College in 1991 with the degree of art historian. For one year, she was paid minimum salary at an American Place in 1991. Guarnaschelli began her career in the culinary field in the kitchen with help from her mother, helping test many recipes and then writing cookbooks. Guarnaschelli started her career working as a sous chef under Larry Forgione. Her son Marc Forgione was the Iron Chef. Guarnaschelli then went on to work at various restaurants throughout France as well as Los Angeles. Guy Savoy manages La Butte Chaillot. Guarnaschelli also worked for Daniel Boulud's own restaurant, as well as Joachim Splichal's Patina before being named Chef-in-Charge at Butter. The restaurant was closed in the summer of 2005. she served as executive chef at the Darby. Chair of the Museum of Food and Drink's Culinary Council. Guarnaschelli released her first cookbook in the year 2013. "Old-School Comfort Food: The Way I Learned to Cook" includes autobiographical information and favorite recipes in her professional work that she later adapted to her home. Jamie Jamie Jamie
